No.1  never - 從不；從未；永不

高級替換：when pigs fly <informal>

Eg. Mr Burns says he'll donate a million dollars to charity when pigs fly.

彭斯先生說永遠不會捐100W做慈善。

- Do you think we could ever film a serious video?

-Yeahhh! When pigs fly.

- 你覺得咱們能認真錄一期間節目嗎？

- 這是不可能的

 No.2 It’s impossible to predict 誰也拿不準

高級替換：be anyone’s guess

Eg. Whether they can pull it off is anyone's guess.

他們能不能實現目標誰也拿不準。

It's anyone's guess what may happen next.

誰也拿不準接下來會發生什么。

 No.3 unlikely to happen

渺茫的希望；不大可能實現的計劃

高級替換：pie in the sky

Eg. This is happening. It's  just pie in the sky.

這事兒已經發生了,并不是渺茫的希望。

Eg.This is sort of a “pie in the sky” idea.

這個想法就是“不大可能實現的”那種。

No.4  likely to happen

（指不大可能發生）別眼巴巴等著，有你等的

高級替換：don’t hold your breath <informal>

Eg. I still haven't answered the question,  I'm an academic, so don't hold your breath.

你們的提問我還沒回答，我是搞研究的人，所以這有你等的。

Eg.I'll ask around the office, see if somebody's got something, but don't hold your breath.

我會在辦公室里打聽一下確認他們有沒有，但是別眼巴巴的等了。

Eg.If you miss this deadline, the opportunity is gone.

截止日期前沒完成,你就錯失機會了

No.5 the opportunity is gone (after doing  saying something wrong)

高級替換：blow it <informal>

Eg. The U.S. blew it when it came to health communications.

就當時醫療方面的溝通而言美國錯失良機。

Eg. What the science is telling us is likely to happen.

科學告知我們的是很可能發生的。

No.6 likely to happen

很可能發生

高級替換：be on the cards (British)/be in the cards (American)

Eg. Some interstate travel could also be on the cards.

參加洲際旅游也是可能的事。

Eg. This is  something I ever thought was in the cards for me.

這并不是我曾想過的并且當時還能發生的事情。

Eg. In the end this is going to produce an obvious result.

預料中的必然結局

高級替換：a foregone conclusion

Eg. It's a foregone conclusion that at some point in the future.

這是預料中的將來的某一時刻的必然結果。

Eg. Automated cars will rule the road, there were all the naysayers but that’s a foregone conclusion.

路上行駛的都將是全自動汽車 ,那時候基本都是唱反調的人,但那是預料中的必然結局。

奪冠的大熱門，Z可能獲勝者

高級替換：a / the hot favourite (British)

"Taming of the Shrew" was another hot favourite

《馴悍記》又是一本備受喜愛的書。

No.9 Very likely

I'll almost certainly study in America next year.

明年我很大可能性要在美國學習。

She's almost certain she'll pass her IELTS exam next week.

她幾乎可以肯定她下周會通過雅思考試。

No.10 Unlikely

I probably won't have enough time  energy to keep a pet.

我可能沒有足夠的時間和精力養寵物。

She doubts very much (that) he'll keep promise.

她非常懷疑他會信守諾言。

There's  much chance (that) he'll win the game.

他贏得比賽的機會不大。
